Parenting today

Whats wrong with the children and young people of today, allmost daily we hear about a bashing or killing by some young person or group of young people,is it bordom, drugs or booze or a combination of all these things things as well as bad parenting.

I suggest it starts with bad parenting,Over the last thirty years or so the feminists movment have been undermining the traditional family unit on the grounds that it distorts all human relationships by imposing on them the framework of economic compulsion, social dependence and sexual repression, there for the goals of the feminists must be to create economic and social institutions that are superior to the present family,Coercive family laws should be abolished, adding that "the rearing, social welfare and education of children should become the responsibility of society rather than individual parents"outlined the steps which needed to be taken to overhaul society,They included making abortion free and on demand, integrating sex education into all levels of the school system and ensuring birth control was freely available Of course, the feminists of that era also fought for some worthy causes, such as equal pay.

Feminists also advicated the 24-hour childcare should be introduced to free women from domestic slavery,This has led to huge increase in the number of working parents and the care of children left up to daycare centres, all this at the expence of the relationship/bond between parent/s and child/en,more often both parents work, which means less time to focus on good parenting.

The other thing that has come about has been the increase in childrens rights which has in effect undermined the rights to discipline childeren, this is much melined it means to teach,Effective discipline entails setting clear limits, communicating clearly and punishing in a consistent way,Parental discord or disagreement is a great source of inconsistency.Children feel very confused if they receive conflicting messages from each parent and soon learn that they can play one parent off against the other,Parents need to agree on one set of rules and stick to it. If a parent disagrees with the other parent's parenting style, it should be addressed - but not in front of the children.

A common cause of inconsistency is when parents feel they need to overcompensate and became more lenient to make up for something, such as long working hours, marital discord or divorce. The sad thing is that instead of "treating" their child in that way, they increase the child's insecurity and fears.

Then you have these professionals who suggest there is a "right" way to bring up your child, and those who suggest you will damage your child psychologically if you don't follow their advice, most of whome havnt brought up a child.

The important thing to remember is the bond a parent develops in the first few years will stay for the rest of its life, give your children, especially little ones a safer and happier, secure, structured environment,Its also important to give the right attention children will be naughty just to get any form of attention,so if the only time you take notice of them is when they are naughty then thats what they will do,Parents need to be parents not your childs buddy.
